Let's Get to It!

With a total staff of 40, we are able to service five banking locations with professionalism and personal service. Of course, like so many community banks, our scheduling is tight. Yet, in spite of the workload, our team willingly manages to participate in outside service across two counties in a great number of activities and programs that are often generated through their own passion and enthusiasm. This is our culture.

First National Bank Texas (Killeen) | Financial Literacy

Supporting the Financial Health of Our Community

In 2021, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact communities across the country, its effects were felt more significantly by communities which were underserved. Low-resource communities faced additional challenges, such as food insecurity, job instability, and housing. First National Bank Texas (FNBT) continued their efforts to deliver financial literacy classes, leveraging its two-prong approach; in-person financial  literacy classes and virtual financial literacy classes. The bank equipped its employees with the necessary tools, training, and resources to deliver financial literacy, whether it was in-person or virtually, to address the financial health needs of the community.

Ozona Bank (Wimberly) | Community Service

Community Partnership With Matching Funds and Distribution

Ozona Bank contributes to many non-profits in the market areas we serve. We are deeply invested in our communities. Years ago, Ozona Bank-Wimberley Branch, decided to support an organization that meets basic needs in the area. The bank's President/CEO, Kelly Barclay, and the then-President of the Crisis Bread Basket, Judy Dunn, discussed an effort between the bank and the CBB. The CBB strives to meet the basic needs of those less fortunate in the area. They do not receive federal funds and rely heavily on donations and philanthropic efforts.

From Kelly Barclay, President and CEO of Ozona Bank, “When Judy approached me in 2002, she expressed concern regarding the recent denial of federal funding and the negative impact this would have on CBB and their ability to fulfill their mission of serving the less fortunate.  Understanding the Bank’s passion for serving the needs within our communities, I immediately recognized this was an opportunity to help. The Bank’s 20-year successful partnership with CBB is largely due to our dedicated and enthusiastic staff who strive each year to surpass the prior year’s monetary goal.  The Bank’s Directors, Officers and Staff are passionate about supporting the needs of the communities we serve and are excited to be a part of this journey with CBB. We listen to and care for the communities’ needs and strive hard to find solutions to their problems.”

This program began small with a small group of volunteers; it has grown each year. With a collaborative effort and proper planning, the Turkeys Tackling Hunger Campaign has been successful in serving so many within the community. We look forward to this community service project for future years.

Woodforest and FHLB Dallas Community Investment Program Grant Support

Disaster recovery and revitalization and stabilization are central components of Woodforest National Bank’s Outstanding Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rated program. Woodforest receives no fees for investing its human capital and technology resources and values the opportunity to administer Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) grant funds for LMI homeowners who continue to struggle in the aftermath of these natural disasters. All grant award recipients are from households with 80% or less of area median income.

In 2021, Woodforest teamed up with FHLB Dallas to provide 40 grants (31 were for disaster recovery, and nine were for special needs assistance) totaling nearly $332,000 to LMI residents affected by disabilities and FEMA-declared disasters in four Texas cities: Beaumont, Houston, Dallas, and Refugio. These grants support repair and rehabilitation efforts for grant recipients. Plus, the 40 rehabilitations included hiring 12 local small business minority-owned contracting firms to complete the rehabilitation projects and six local small business minority inspection companies to provide services for the projects. The financial revenue to these small businesses from this project added over $319,000 to the local economies and helped support over 72 local, good jobs across Texas.

Southlake Banking Center

First National Bank moved into their newly constructed, modern three-story 16,183 square foot banking center at the entrance to Southlake, Texas, in January 2021. Conveniently located off State Highway 114, this new banking center was a culmination of the evolution of ideas and the collective decision making between SLI Group, Inc., a commercial design building firm founded in 1976, and First National Bank’s experienced banking staff. The exterior of the building boasts a modern, eye-catching design built with traditional materials that ground the building. The fins and awnings are intended to cast playful shadows on the building that draw attention to the bank from the highway. The interior is a mix of traditional, modern, multi-textured elements that create a welcoming atmosphere to all who enter. The banking center features a spacious lobby and teller area, three conference rooms, airy offices, and a third-floor terrace perfect for hosting community events and employee cook-outs. First National Bank continues the commitment to offer their customers the best of community banking in the new Southlake banking center.

Northlake Branch Opening

In 2018 Lamar National Bank opened a LPO in Fort Worth and quickly established relationships that led to the City of Northlake reaching out inquiring about the possibility of a bank branch that would service the residents of Northlake. This area fit perfectly into our growth strategy offering us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the residents of the community in which we would serve; with our mission being relationship banking. Lamar National established a presence in 2020 by placing a modular building on the site while working with TGS Architects to erect the 2,340 sq ft. industrial contemporary branch that anchors the retail setting, opening the permanent  location in 2021. Being the first bank to service the aggressively growing area of Northlake. The branch solidifies our commitment to the community to provide relationship banking; working closely with city, the EDC, and other community leaders Lamar is poised to have a positive impact on this community helping it grow.

Financial Literacy Program

At Texas Regional Bank, financial literacy isn’t simply an effort to get in front of people, it is an opportunity for us to connect with those of the greatest need – the unbanked and underserved – in an effort to give back to the communities we serve, from our youngest citizens to those young at heart. Online Banking Educational Video Series

Expanding our market presence from retention based established rural audiences all the way to new low penetrated acquisition-based urban audiences has been an enormous challenge for Alliance Bank. High quality video production in conjunction with low-cost but immense social media audience penetration has emerged as a perfect solution. Video content allows our customers to see inside our operation, get a feel for our personality and feel like they are in the moment with us. In short, videos have been  a great way to connect with our consumers. Video content has given Alliance Bank the power to create relationships and real bonds with consumers. As our investment in content marketing grows, it's important to understand and articulate its importance so that we can deliver even more value. Finally, at Alliance Bank we have found that video is important because it can clearly communicate an educational story. This type of marketing works because it allows businesses to convey emotions and answer the essential whys surrounding the marketing of products and services. Lastly, we identified a knowledge gap in our technology-based products and services with our staff leading to missed opportunities with our customer base adoption and utilization. By creating a series of knowledge-based videos we have been able to meet both needs.

When we saw the community of Jacksboro facing devastation from tornadoes, our First State Bank Decatur branch location was quick to respond to the needs of our friends, extending help to a neighboring county. With the support of our community and our preparation in crisis management, we collaborated on what we could do to help. Homes were destroyed. Lives were disrupted. So, we immediately worked to gather supplies, provide food for over 400 people and collect donations totaling nearly $9,500 to help our neighbors. Snack Bar of Support

The goals of this program were to provide encouragement, show our support, and share our deepest appreciation to the healthcare workers in our communities that sacrificed so much for the well-being of their patients and communities. The COVID surges in the fall of 2021 and the beginning of this year brought extreme pressure and stress on them and they were already worn down from the immense stress, mental and physical strain caused by the pandemic.
